On August 27, the 2025 (4th) Gaogong Welding Robot Technology and Application Summit officially opened in Shanghai. Jointly organized by Gaogong Robotics and the Gaogong Robotics Industry Research Institute (GGII), the event was themed “Igniting a New Era of Smart Welding, Leading Industrial Transformation through Applications”. The summit attracted over 500 participants from across the industry value chain—including robot manufacturers, system integrators, vision technology providers, and end-users—and shared the latest achievements with more than 300,000 professionals through Gaogong’s media platforms, bringing a feast of ideas and technology to the welding robot sector.
Empowering Industry with Vision · Focusing on Welding Innovation
As a provider of intelligent welding solutions, Vizum was invited to join the summit. At the event, Vizum showcased its latest R&D achievements. By combining 3D vision with intelligent platforms, the company demonstrated real-world progress in advancing welding from technological exploration to industrial application, creating new opportunities for collaboration and exchange across the industry.

A New Era of Smart Welding · The Future in Progress
At the core session of the summit, Dr. Dong XiaoJian, CEO of Vizum, delivered a keynote speech titled “A New Era of Smart Welding · The Future in Progress.” He outlined the development trajectory of intelligent welding from L0 to L5, and officially introduced Vizum’s new-generation welding vision camera ViEye 2.0 along with its companion application platform Tiger Platform 2.0. These launches mark a new stage in Vizum’s integration of vision and welding control.

01 From Evolution to Breakthrough · Hardware as the Foundation
Dr. Dong emphasized that the industry is evolving from manual welding (L0) and teaching-based operation (L1) to today’s assisted automation (L2), and is gradually advancing toward higher levels of intelligent welding (L3–L5). He highlighted that hardware performance is the decisive factor in enabling real industrial deployment. Versatility, reliability in complex environments, and consistent long-duration output are essential for system value in production. Only with solid hardware foundations can intelligent software and algorithms fully unleash their potential.

02 ViEye 2.0 & Tiger Platform 2.0
During his presentation, Dr. Dong unveiled the ViEye 2.0, featuring an all-in-one “six-in-one” design that integrates static surface scanning, dynamic line scanning, seam tracking, high-precision RGB imaging, dynamic monitoring, and full-process observation. This significantly enhances the accuracy and stability of automated welding.

Meanwhile, the Tiger Platform 2.0 has also been upgraded. The new version supports seam recognition and selection, path editing and optimization, point cloud fusion, and full-process management of profile welding. Fully compatible with mainstream robotic arms, the platform serves as the “central brain” of intelligent welding.

At the conclusion of his keynote, Dr. Dong noted that Vizum’s ambition goes beyond product development—it aims to drive the transformation from “manufacturing” to “intelligent manufacturing.” By integrating vision and platforms, welding is evolving from incremental improvements at the process level into a comprehensive upgrade for the industrial systems of the future.
Roundtable Dialogue · Sparking Insights
Following his keynote, Dr. Dong participated in the summit’s roundtable discussion with representatives from across the welding value chain. Together, they explored three pressing questions:
- What are end-users’ needs and expectations for intelligent welding?
- How can the value chain adapt to market demand under the smart welding trend?
- In which scenarios are intelligent welding robots already mature, and where are breakthroughs still needed?

Dr. Dong shared Vizum’s practices and forward-looking perspectives. He noted that end-users increasingly prioritize welding quality, efficiency, and flexibility—key areas where intelligent welding can deliver value. For the value chain, open collaboration and technical upgrades are essential to meet diverse demands quickly. In terms of applications, intelligent welding has already matured in scenarios such as profile welding, steel structures, and shipbuilding, while extreme conditions and highly complex structures remain challenging frontiers. His insights offered both inspiration and practical direction for industry peers.
Industry Recognition · Winning the Pioneer Award
On the evening of the 27th, the 2025 China Intelligent Welding Industry Chain Pioneer Awards ceremony was held. Vizum was honored with the “2025 China Intelligent Welding Industry Chain Pioneer – Outstanding Product” award, recognizing its innovation in technology development and applications. This achievement reflects both the industry’s acknowledgment of Vizum’s contributions and growing attention to the “vision + platform” model. Vizum extends its gratitude to all partners and customers—their trust and support drive its continuous progress.

Looking Ahead · Empowering Industrial Upgrades
Looking to the future, Vizum will continue to focus on 3D vision and embodied intelligence, strengthening the synergy between hardware and platforms to support high-quality growth in the welding industry. Beneath the welding sparks lies not only the continuation of craftsmanship, but also the starting point for the next wave of industrial transformation.
